One of the major UK construction and infrastructure companies is looking to appoint 2 x Certification Engineers to join their Crossrail team in Woolwich, London on a 9 month contract.

Role purpose:

Provide subject matter expertise to the Project and to ensure Assurance documentation, with the emphasis on Rail and Systems, is produced and accepted by Crossrail. Ensure the continual improvement of project performance in line with external standards and the integrated management systems

Key objectives of the role:

  • Promote awareness of Crossrail requirements within the project and the promotion of the Crossrail ethos for "Right First Time"
  • Deliver quality advice and guidance at all levels
  • Ensure all released documents are produced to programme and are compliant and accurate

Develop pro-active relationships with all parties and build confidence that assurance requirements are being met

Main duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of Self-Certification Packages for submission, checking for compliance with CRL specifications and procedures Standards, resolving queries and obtaining signed certificates.
  • Review of construction records for completeness and accuracy
  • Liaison with Balfour Beatty Engineers and Sub-contractors and the co-ordination and review of sub-contractor documents
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and systems to deal with issues effectively and efficiently and drive a "right first time" approach
  • Contribute to the preparation of Health and Safety File
  • Use of performance measurement tools and ensure that relevant information is captured and the review of trends
  • Maintain current working knowledge of relevant legislation, British Standards, International Standards and industry practice
  • Providing support and advice to project staff on assurance issues and controls
  • Undertake inspections, audits, reporting and implementing corrective and preventive actions, lessons learned and improvements
  • Identify best practice for promotion within the project and across the businesses
  • Support the Quality Manager in the implementation of the Integrated Management System

Ideal candidate should have following skills/experience:

  • Thorough knowledge of ISO90001 and a good understanding of BS 180001/ISO 140001
  • Experience of working on multi-discipline civil engineering projects
  • Previous experience in a Quality Assurance delivery role desirable
  • Previous Crossrail experience an advantage
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to work to challenging deadlines
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in written form
  • Self-driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and creating pdf documents
  • Internal Auditor (IRCA) qualification desirable
  • CSCS required
  • Membership of Chartered Quality Institute or working towards PCQI or MCQI desirable
