Functional Safety Engineer - Combat Systems
A Functional Safety Engineer with defence experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Weymouth.
This is a 6 month contract working with a leading UK defence company.
Overview of the Functional Safety Engineer contract role
You will be required to support development of the policy and procedures for allocation, and subsequent justification, of Combat Systems (CS) Functional Safety to include review of CS & Whole Boat Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) work to date to identify any gaps/flaws, and carry out reviews on CS Functional Integrity Level (FIL) allocation to identify any gaps/flaws.
Key skills required for the Functional Safety Engineer
- Considerable experience in Functional Safety justification to a recognised standard eg IEC61508, ARP4761.
- Good interpersonal skills are essential, liaison with stakeholders at all levels to develop and present convincing and coherent arguments/policies.
- Good written/presentation skills to document the processes and plans to be applied.
- Previous experience developing and delivering Safety Cases (for MoD/Defence projects).
- Previous experience of working to Def Stan 00-56 (Safety Case development).
The role is based in Weymouth, Dorset - commutable from Dorchester, Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Blandford Forum, Bere Regis, Bovington, Sherborne, Yeovil, Crewkerne, Honiton, Axminster, Lyme Regis and Bridport.
