Supply Chain Manager - Defence

A Supply Chain Manager is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Portsmouth.

This is a 6 month contract working with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Supply Chain Manager contract role

As the Supply Chain Manager you will be working with suppliers and subcontractors to improve planning and responsible for Inventory Management and Optimisation, Demand Forecasting and planning (DF&P), delivering Defect Reporting and Corrective Action (DRACAS) using Arising Rate Management (ARM) methodology.

Key skills required for the Supply Chain Manager

  • Sound understanding of the defence industry.
  • Practical understanding of the partnering between Government and private sector.
  • Broad understanding of Matrix management in a complex operational environment.
  • Detailed understanding of LCM process, Business Management System, Operational Framework and Operational Assurance process.
  • Knowledge and capability of ERP systems, Demand/Planning systems and their operation and appropriateness.
  • Expert stakeholder engagement, verbal and written communication skills with a strong appreciation of the impact of visual communications.
  • Ability to self-start, develop plans and monitor progress on an on-going basis. Highly organised.
  • Action-oriented with excellent meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to interact across all levels of management.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to take large amounts of information and extract most critical information.
  • Highly credible with internal customers and external suppliers, viewed as a leader by their peers.
  • Team oriented - must be able to work as part of a cross functional team to deliver end-to-end Supply Chain solutions across the business delivering.

The role is based in Portsmouth, Hampshire - commutable from Southampton, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Guildford, Aldershot, Crawley, Horsham, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester.
