Strategic Supply Chain Manager

A Strategic Supply Chain Manager is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Portsmouth.

This is a 6 month contract working for a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Strategic Supply Chain Manager contract role

You will be required to ensure that all procurement activity delivers value for money through the planned and skilful management of agreed categories and suppliers. Co-ordinate supplier selection, subsequent and appropriate management of the supply base (SRM); contract negotiations, placement and management of all third party requirements assigned.

Key skills required for the Strategic Supply Chain Manager

  • Practical understanding of the partnering between Government and private sector.
  • Detailed understanding of LCM process, Business Management System, Operational Framework and Operational Assurance process.
  • Sound understanding of the defence industry
  • Knowledge and capability of ERP systems, eSourcing systems and their operation and appropriateness and contract management systems
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing processes and principles of Supply Chain
  • Expert knowledge of Supplier Management covering aspects such as performance and relationships
  • Expert stakeholder engagement, verbal and written communication skills with a strong appreciation of the impact of visual communications.
  • Ability to self-start, develop plans and monitor progress on an on-going basis. Highly organised.
  • Action-oriented with excellent meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to interact across all levels of management.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to take large amounts of information and extract most critical information.
  • Highly credible with internal customers and external suppliers, viewed as a leader by their peers.
  • Team oriented - must be able to work as part of a cross functional team to deliver end-to-end Supply Chain solutions across the business delivering optimal performance

The role is based in Portsmouth, Hampshire - commutable from Southampton, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Guildford, Aldershot, Crawley, Horsham, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester
