Financial Systems Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Systems Accountant to join an established and successful business on a long term contract.

Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the support and maintenance of Hyperion Planning, HFM and Essbase within Group Finance. The role also includes responsibilities for supporting the CODA general ledger, and will present the opportunity to work on system related projects.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Owning the data model - chart of accounts, entities and hierarchies, communicating changes required to Business Systems
  • Testing and reviewing changes made within the system
  • Ensuring data model is in sync with CODA general ledger and other source systems, on a monthly basis
  • Working with Business Systems to prepare the system for month end reporting
  • Developing and maintaining Group reports
  • Understanding and maintaining Group allocation routines
  • Providing support to regional super user community, as well as the wider user group
  • Implementing improvements to financial systems processes, liaising with users to understand change/enhancement requirements
  • Interpreting the needs of system users and communicating requirements to Business Systems
  • Providing training to new users and keep training materials up to date
  • Communicating systems changes to users
  • Working with Business Systems and user groups on testing and roll out of system upgrades
  • Performing control monitoring over user community and access rights
  • Ensuring group chart of accounts is updated and maintained within the general ledger system (CODA)
  • Setting up, modifying and maintaining elements in line with Group Finance policies and procedures
  • Ensuring exchange rates are up to date within the system
  • Maintaining accounting periods in the ledger
  • Running and monitoring year end processes within the ledger
  • Performing control monitoring over user community and access rights

Desired Experience:

The successful candidate will be working towards or possess a professional accounting qualification as well as an interest and aptitude for financial systems.

  • Good understanding of multi-dimensional systems and internal control environments
  • Ability to plan, design & perform system testing, and consider the wider impact of changes across the entire system
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently
  • Good understanding of finance and accounting concepts
  • Previous Hyperion experience would be an advantage
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
