Role: Commercial Assistant

Location: Coventry

Day Rate: Negotiable

Duration: 6 months Contract

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen with my client who are currently seeking a Commercial Assistant to sit within their Technology Procurement Team. This role will entail supporting the Commercial Manager on issues relating to commercial negotiations and contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the Commercial Manager regarding the commercial aspects of bids
  • Handling supplier enquiries and liaising with the business on any contractual amendments or queries
  • Working with the Commercial Manager to ensure that additional charges are made in accordance to the contract and ensuring that the contract makes provisions for any claw backs and gain share
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the Contract Handbook.
  • Managing the Contract Change log.
  • Gathering of material required for ITAC/OGC for material changes and legal matters.
  • Gathering Contract Change requirements and recording them accordingly.
  • Assisting the vetting of Statements of Work, maintaining a record of interdependencies between project activity and BAU charges for already provided services.
  • Supporting and occasionally chairing contractual governance meetings and recording minutes, actions and key decisions.
  • Provide support and assistance in determining the commercial strategy for suppliers
  • Leading minor negotiations and discussions
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with suppliers, partners and key stakeholder
  • Managing Contract register.
  • Conducting Financial Risk Management on Key suppliers

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Commercial experience within buying/purchasing or purchasing.
  • Experience of procurement of IT products or services.
  • Knowledge of IT outsource contracts and commercial negotiations
  • Financial awareness
  • Previous experience of supporting a Commercial Manager
  • Demonstrable experience of assessing, drafting and agreeing Contract Change or Statements of Work
  • Contractual Negotiation experience
  • Experience of Liaising with Suppliers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar position
  • Previous manufacturing experience
