Senior Payroll Team Leader

A Senior Payroll Team Leader with defence experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Preston.

This is a 6 month contract working with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Senior Payroll Team Leader contract role

As a Senior Payroll Team Leader, you will lead and motivate a team of Payroll Professionals who manage a number of high volume and high value monthly Payrolls. The role also encompasses performance improvement, process improvement and involvement in the delivery of Payroll related business projects.

Key skills required for the Senior Payroll Team Leader

  • Extensive Payroll legislation knowledge, including an appreciation for future changes and the possible impact of these on a Payroll function.
  • Proven in depth Payroll experience, ideally within a Shared Service Centre environment.
  • Previous experience of Payroll accounts reconciliation, including a good understanding of statutory returns.
  • The ability to interrogate and analyse data, trouble shoot and problem solve.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas, data and results in an easy to understand format.
  • PC literacy skills, competent in Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • GCSEs or equivalent in Mathematics and English, grades A-C.

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds.
