The Role

Our public sector client based in Warrington requires an SC-cleared commercial officer to support the overall provision of a commercial service in accordance with targets by undertaking a range of commercial activity.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Carry out the procurement of goods and services as required in accordance with current policy and operating procedures.
  • Manage tender and mini-tender procurement exercises using electronic and paper based systems in accordance with delegated authorities and agreed policies and procedures.
  • Undertake projects, case management, planning activity and campaigns (as required).
  • Promote the value of Commercial objectives across the wider business environment by providing advice to departmental colleagues, customers and senior managers on commercial issues.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and service delivery managers to monitor and record supplier performance against contract KPIs. Support the delivery of corrective action plans as required.
  • Ensure the quality, secure handling and dissemination of data/information, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and a duty of care in line with the client's policy.
  • Build good working relationships with both internal and external partners. Liaise with other government departments and partner agencies.

Skills and Experience

  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Certificate of Competence (Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
  • A proven procurement background, preferably in the public sector.
  • Experience of analysing information from a range of sources.
  • Experience of effectively working as part of a team.
  • Proven experience of administration, customer or service delivery.
  • A good understanding of information management.
  • Awareness of law enforcement legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal or customer service skills.
  • Information technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Written/drafting skills.
  • Analytical skills/data interpretation skills.
  • Organisational, administrative skills.
