Senior Fund Controller - Alternatives - Fund Accounting - Financial Accounting - Oversight - Hedge Fund - Private Equity - Real Estate Investments - Fund Management - Investment Management - Asset Management - Investor Services - Asset Servicing.Our client, a fast growing small institutional investment manager, is looking for a fund controller/oversight manager to be based in London/City. This role is focused on Alternative Investments - primarily Hedge Funds and Private Equity and to a lesser extent, Direct and Indirect Property Funds and Infrastructure Funds. This will be an initial contract appointment with a view to it becoming permanent.
This is a hybrid accounting/operational role. It has a financial accounting component including financial reporting, regulatory and technical accounting such as UKGAAP and IFRS.
The Fund Controller will also provide oversight of fund accounting performed by external 3rd parties and will have responsibility for collective fund processing in general, focused on alternatives funds.
Key Experience & Skills:
- You must have in-depth technical accounting knowledge of alternatives funds: hedge funds, private equity, &/or infrastructure finance; and preferably of real estate funds. Additionally, fund accounting (NAV production), experience across the range of alternative funds is required.
- Experience of oversight &/or supplier management/relationship management is highly desirable (not critical); and experience of transfer Agency a bonus.
- Although the role doesn't include man management (at least initially), this is a senior role with supervisory responsibility over external relationships, and it is likely that the successful candidate will have or have had some leadership experience. Internal business and stakeholder management experience
- Candidates are likely to have had hands-on experience of fund and financial accounting within an investor services/asset servicing/third party administration firm, and/or experience of an oversight role with a fund manager. Oversight of off-shored operations within an investor services firm would also be very relevant experience.
- ACCA, ACA or an equivalent accounting qualification is essential. Near qualified candidates will also be considered.
- Company/Investment tax knowledge would be advantageous.
