Senior Structural Engineer
12 Weeks Contract
Location: Rosyth, Scotland
Rate: £35 - £40 p/h
Hours Per Week: 37
To apply engineering domain knowledge competently, to provide technical solutions in the field of Structural Engineering
Experience with the delivery of products and services within the nuclear sector would be preferable.
Major Task and Activities
- Ensuring that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
- Contribute to Project Safety Assessment process.
- Ensure task and project risks are communicated and managed appropriately.
- Produce, review and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports, in accordance with task and project requirements.
- Assessing the implication of changes, concessions and queries.
- Maintaining the engineering configuration, ensuring overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design life cycle.
- Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements.
- Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of tasks and projects.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development.
- Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
- Ensure required review, verification and approval of work is undertaken.
- Exercise care for own health and safety and that of others as defined by Health and Safety legislation.
- Act as Technical Authority when authorised to do so by Chief Engineer or delegated authority.
- As assigned fulfil role as Engineering Lead for simple multi discipline tasks and projects.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Engineering or Science degree qualification in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience
- HND qualified with significant demonstrable engineering experience and capability
- Membership or, or capable of, registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
- Experience of MathCAD Analysis is essential, with familiarity using the STAAD FEA suite preferable. Microsoft experience required.
