Merchandiser/Junior Demand Planning Analyst.

Contract. 6 months + Leatherhead. £Competitve Per day. Global FMCG.

Merchandiser/Junior Demand Planning Analyst required to join our Global FMCG client in Leatherhead, Surrey. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the biggest and well known organisations globally whilst gaining valuable skills and industry insight.

The role

  • Maintain a robust and realistic total volume forecast for a category of products, based on Category led key assumptions, risks and opportunities to represent the latest forecast view.
  • Create the Consolidated Unconstrained Demand Plan
  • Highlight gaps from target in the demand plan
  • Constrain demand and communicate the constrained demand plan
  • Support the development of long term capacity plans
  • Input into stock model on forecast variability
  • Provide volume range for strategic and contingency stock decisions
  • Input into long term horizon (customer specific) stock allocations
  • Capture and understand significant forecast changes
  • Understand and apply statistical models, depending on historical patterns and horizons
  • Provide the best estimate of category forecasts for the Long Term horizon, by interpreting regular rate of sales trends and the impacts of known volume drivers (category strategy, market dynamics, 8Q event plans, media, competitor activity etc)
  • Maintain planning data and parameters.
  • Be an integral part of NPD teams, to create, maintain and evaluate volume range forecasts' including the estimation and evaluation of potential obsoletes in line with business imperatives.
  • Support formal Category Planning and Business Planning processes, providing category forecasts and explanations of significant changes
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships and forecasting processes with Category Managers, Category Finance, Brand Building, Distribution, and Requirements Planning teams to optimise the robustness of the forecast.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar position (Stock control, Demand Planning, Merchandising etc)
  • Proficiency in sophisticated IT software packages to develop accurate category forecasts. Knowledge of SAP would be beneficial.
  • Recent graduates will be considered - Business, Maths and Supply Chain would be favoured but other subjects accepted.
  • Strong analytical skills and key emphasis on the requirement to undertake root cause analysis and rigorously implement improvement action plans in order to continually develop the robustness of Logistics processes linked to forecasting. This major activity will be supported by strong communication skills within the company and with the category, as well as excellent team working skills
  • Be the advocates of good forecasting practices across the company using adapting influencing style and presentation skills according to the forum and/or audience
