Description
The Role:
- Engineering design of mechanical equipment by means of technical submissions, specifications and drawings, including Bills of Materials (BOM's) and Consolidated Bills of Materials (CBOM's), in accordance with the relevant client and/or international standards
- Supervision and direction of draughtsmen in the production of drawings, BOM's & CBOM's and the subsequent checking of drawings, BoM's and CBOM's
- Preparation of enquiries and purchase requisitions against BOM's and CBOM's, assessment of suppliers' quotations and technical submissions prior to client approval
- Identifying changes to contract scope and advise Senior Mechanical Design Engineer or Engineering Manager
- Attending contract review meetings as arranged by the Project Manager and providing technical assistance on engineering aspects
- Preparation of mechanical standards, data sheets, and specifications
- Liaise with purchasing and shipping department
- To effectively liaise with other staff members, clients, and suppliers to ensure customer satisfaction and satisfactory contract completion
- Ensure that designs take due regard of all health and safety requirements and environmental issues
- Preparation of reports, technical write-ups, data sheets, and specifications
The Skills:
- Have experience of advising/controlling other members of staff
- Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts
- Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, eg civil engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly
- Able to travel overseas as and when required
You will preferably have a Mechanical Engineering Degree with a minimum of a HNC in mechanical engineering with 5 years relevant experience.
