My client is currently looking to recruiting an Risk Manager to be based out of their Bristol office.

The role is offering £307 a day via an umbrella company with an 6 week initial contract. This role is for a Public Sector organisation and is IN SCOPE OF IR35.

Role overview:

This job covers priority elements of the DE&S Corporate Performance and Risk (CPR) 'Risk Reporting' role, and some elements of the 'Risk Policy Manager' roles. Together with the Corporate Risk Assistant Head, these 3 roles form a risk cell providing policy, management information and risk assurance to DE&S strategic level boards and external customers.

The current job is responsible for the day to day maintenance of the DE&S Board-level strategic risk register on Active Risk Manager (ARM); co-ordinates risk inputs to the Chief Finance Officer's (CFO) report to the DE&S Board, and reports to MOD Head Office stakeholders, all to meet formal requirements for effective internal control; and finally it also provides direct ad hoc risk-related support to the Assistant Head.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

1. Support the DE&S corporate risk management and reporting regime, including the production of corporate reports to meet in

a. Provision of appropriate risk data and reports for the DE&S Board, the CFO Report, and - as appropriate - the delivery domains' Performance Committee Reports; and

b. Risk data and reports to enable the Risk Assistant Head to report to the DE&S Audit Committee, the Directorate of Audit, Risk and Assurance (DARA), Defence Internal Audit (DIA), the National Audit Office (NAO), and other stakeholders on request.

2. Support strategic risk owners in the management and reporting of their risks and mitigation plans, calling for monthly updates, sharing feedback, and providing scrutiny and constructive challenge.

3. Manage and maintain users' ability to effectively maintain the Board-level risk register on ARM, ensuring all requests for access, training and advice are completed as and when required.

4. Provide occasional ad hoc support to the risk Assistant Head, to include review and analysis of strategic and sub-strategic risks recorded in ARM for trends and quality.

The successful candidate will need the following exposure:

  • Experience of corporate governance or working in a large/complex organisation;
  • Management of Risk, IRM International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management, or APM Project Risk Management
