Description

My public sector organisation are looking for a Media and Transformation Communications Manager for an initial 3 month contract, with possible extension.

Purpose:

To lead the Media and Transformation Communications team to manage all media relations for the organisation, protecting and enhancing the reputation through a period of significant transformation. To deliver a highly effective 24/7 multi-media service, including out of hours support and lead on emergency planning and crisis communications. To deputise for the Head of Communications, Marketing and Engagement in their area of expertise.

Experience:

  • Senior management experience in communications, with a focus on media and reputation management
  • Experience of leading an effective media service in a complex and political organisation
  • Knowledge of a broad range of communications disciplines and experience of communicating strategically and developing strong clear narratives about complex issues. Ideally supporting significant service transformation or organisational change.
  • Experience of providing expert communications advice to senior stakeholders including the Leader and Chief Executive on media and reputation management
  • Experience of developing digital channels including effective use of social media as part of a communications strategy
  • Experience in crisis communications and emergency planning
  • Experience of effectively managing systems and processes, including media protocols, to ensure effective service running
  • An understanding of the workings of the local government including the current issues and challenges.
  • Experience of working in a political organisation and building effective relationships with elected members (Desirable)

  • Ability to work under own initiative, taking responsibility and ownership for solving problems

This role is for a public sector organisation and falls within scope of IR35. All applicants must be willing to use an umbrella company.
