Manufacturing Engineer/Limerick, Ireland/12 Months Contract/30 to 38 EUR (Per Hour)

Position Description and Responsibilities

  • Acts as an advocate for continuous improvement activities using statistical techniques, Lean manufacturing tools, Six Sigma, design experimentation for process and equipment, to achieve targets and cost savings.
  • Take the lead in troubleshooting on equipment while providing Coaching and Mentoring to other engineering staff. Serves as a resource to other engineering disciplines in facility.
  • Will have a prime role with respect to equipment and process safety ensuring J&J standards are met or exceeded at all times.
  • Utilise Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Methodical approach to problem solving Training and mentoring:

  • Develop and improve planned maintenance regimes
  • Train maintenance engineers on planned maintenance regimes

Improve fault diagnosis skills within engineering Dealing with equipment suppliers and service providers:

  • Develop support relationships with external sources

Support improvement projects on manufacturing equipment:

  • Upgrade existing equipment to improve Quality
  • Sub contract if/when necessary
  • Perform tasks on site
  • Support change control

Support introduction of change Support new product and process introduction:

  • Be aware of impact of new products on manufacturing equipment
  • Be aware of quality elements of new products and assess their impact on current manufacturing process
  • Machine safety regulations
  • Involved in machine commissioning
  • Electrical/mechanical/pneumatic systems awareness.
  • Experience in process transfer or large project role

Non Technical Skills and Additional Details

  • Demonstration of sound methodology in fault finding techniques
  • Experience in process transfer or large project roles in medical device environment
  • Project management of complex
  • Previous experience in engineering support roles in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Validation processes
  • Previous experience in a high volume-manufacturing environment

  • Equipment and process safety aspect to EU standards
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated Leadership experience
  • Medical Devices or other FDA regulated industries experience

  • Good communication and reporting skills both verbal and written to allow work to be carried out over a shift change and beyond

  • A first class communicator
