Financial Controller, Wellesbourne, Project Accounting, Qualified, 3 months+

My client a major automotive company is looking to appoint a Financial Controller to their midlands based IT PMO service to deliver upon their commitments and ensuring that all projects are on track

Key Purpose Of Role:

  • Provides the IT leadership team and programme leads with the latest financial position of each programme, so that the right management decisions can be made in a timely manner
  • Liaises with JLR IT Finance teams to ensure correct allocation of items/work to be capitalised in line with the correct and applicable fiscal policies including any in country rules of the programme concerned
  • Works with the project teams to ensure the underlying data that supports MI is correct and up to date
  • Reports to Head of PfMO (David Baldwin) and IT Programme Finance Lead (Sean Jobber)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides the control and monitoring needed for the IT leadership team to make decisions accurately and report financial position to the relevant JLR stakeholders
  • Maintains baseline cost models of programmes and reports any exceptions to these baselines in a timely manner to the IT and Finance management team
  • Builds in reporting for actual, committed and forecast spend based on baseline cost model
  • Reports on cash-flow forecast of each programme
  • Ensures programmes are managing to JLR FY budget, and manages any roll over of budget to subsequent FY to ensure programmes maintain overall programme budget
  • Ensures that commercial milestones are in line with the financial cost model
  • Coaches programme teams in financial management processes and best practices to ensure adherence to the controls and methods in place
  • Contributes to all aspects of project and programme management methodology across IT Programme portfolio
  • Facilitates and builds in lessons identified and learned
  • Understands and applies knowledge of JLR finance processes and rules
  • Provides guidance and coaching to programme team members on key financial processes

Key skills:

  • Project accounting skills (ideally CIMA qualified)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Political understanding & sensitivity
  • Innovative, delivery focused with solution-focused mind-set
  • Build and maintain clear and concise management information of project financials
  • Understanding of SAP ERP/ECC and any other financial modules of SAP
  • Knowledge of IT accounting treatments eg what can be capitalised typically
  • Understanding of SAP BI reporting capability
