We are looking for a Behavioural Analyst to join our financial services client in performing Behavioural Analysis (BA) for Liability and Asset products on the balance sheet to ensure regulatory requirements are met. The analysis will inform, and form inputs, into modelling of the banks asset and liability products through time eg over the next 5 years. This is very important to allow the bank to model balance sheet metrics through time such as Earnings, Earnings at Risk, Liquidity, Net Interest Income (NII), Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) and Stress Testing.
Some specifics include:
- Segmentation of Liability products. This includes looking for relationships between different types of deposit products, particularly Non Maturing Deposits (NMDs)' such as current, notice, demand, and balance size, vintage, type (retail/corporate/interbank) etc.
- Calculation of Weighted Average Lives (WALs) using an appropriate methodology for deposit products. This may also inform and relate to (1) above and (3) below.
- Split of NMDs balances into Core' and Non-Core' or Stable' and Non Stable'. One definition of stable NMDs is the portion of the balance that is found to remain un-drawn with a high degree of likelihood and/or unlikely to re-price under significant changes in the interest rate environment.
- Development of growth and decay models for liability segmentation balances.
- Development of rate models which inform their sensitivity to reference rates and/or macroeconomic environments. This allows projection of future rates and assessment of same rates under stressed conditions. Stress testing is one important output for meeting regulatory analysis and reporting requirements.
- Development of behavioural models for Term deposits.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a behavioural analyst with a solid awareness of modelling techniques associated with BA, and deployment of models, in a Retail Bank environment
- Financial Services experience
- SAS experience
- R experience
- QRM experience - (currently used for liquidity reporting, but other balance sheet metrics are and will be moved to the core system. Behavioural Analyst outputs will integrate with QRM)
