Mechanical Project Manager - 2 Month Temporary Contract - Immediate Start
We are recruiting for one of the nation's largest commercial companies who provide an extensive range of construction services including construction management, general contracting, design and build and preconstruction.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Project Manager to join our Building Services team on a 2 month contract based in Keynsham, Bristol. The project is Building Services; Mechanical, Electrical Install, and Commissioning. As the successful candidate you will have a background in delivering M&P on Major Construction Projects. Building Services both Commercial and Residential would be an advantage. You will have single point accountability for the safe and successful delivery of M&P construction projects and have the potential to manage several lower value multi location projects.
Key Requirements
- Management and organisation of working parties to meet Programme demands
- Inspection and testing of Mechanical systems
- Witness testing and sign-off with the Client
- Progress Reporting
- Attendance in planning and coordination meetings
- HSEQ leadership on project including personal HSEQ leadership as well as ensuring SSOW, SMS and QMS are in place.
- P/l accountability for the project
- Developing project execution plans and strategies
- Lead client, external parties and stakeholder relationship management
- Establish path of construction and provide constructability reviews
- Manage risk and expectations to ensure safe and successful delivery
- Establishing and managing the project team to ensure technical and functional expertise is balanced to safely and successfully deliver requirements.
- Ensure scope, cost, time and performance are managed to ensure the safe and successful completion of our construction projects
- Promote positive Industrial Relations with workforce
- Oversee projects supply chain management including purchasing (bulks, consumables) and sub contracts
- Ensure third party services are planned and are available to meet the needs of the project
- Ensure offsite fabrication is managed, tracked and controlled whether in house or external
- Lead project control activities including planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, productivity and reporting
- Lead project commercial activities including cost control, forecasting, valuation, WIP control, invoicing and cash collections
- Experience in managing change control
You
- Solid experience in managing M&P construction projects including have managed project with a value >£10 million
- Experience in managing a blue collar M&P workforce >150 trades
- Strong market/sector knowledge in the industrial arena including; oil, gas, chemical, processing, nuclear, defence, renewable, and power
- Background in industry ideally including Mechanical, Piping, Control and Instrumentation
- Site and construction management disciplines within highly regulated industries
- Strong interpersonal skills including both written and verbal
- High degree of computer literacy
- Commercial and contractual knowledge and understanding
- Apprenticeship or equivalent, experience in a blue collar trade role (ie pipefitter, welder)
- Experience as a supervisor
- Successful track record as a Project Manager
- Building Services Test and Commissioning will be essential
- Engineer/Time served Plumber/Heating Engineer/Technician/BMS/SCADA/BSRIA experience
