Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Researcher to work within Central Government on a contract basis. This position is based in Shipley, initially until March 2018, offering up to £320 per day umbrella company (inside IR35)

Main Duties

Working alongside other researchers in the Behavioural and Customer Insight Team (BCI) and with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and agree research-based approaches to meet those needs
Design and implement research projects promoting fit-for-purpose research methods.
Undertake a range of different kinds of research including but not limited to
Focus groups
Immersion

Ideas generation and co-creation

Customer journeys
Depth interviews
Use project management tools to monitor the progress of research projects.
Analyse and interpret data to identify patterns and solutions, including quantitative data and focus group transcripts.
Produce detailed reports on research findings and present results to colleagues and stakeholders.
Work with other researchers in BCI to develop the skills, knowledge, and experience of participatory and qualitative research methods through coaching, formal training and other methods.
Use customer researcher findings to help inform the development of customer journeys

Essential Experience:
Experience and expertise in undertaking research in a wide range of areas with diverse types of participants, including businesses and hard-to-reach individuals
Experience in all stages of the research process including research design, delivery, write up and dissemination
Experience of applying innovative qualitative methods such as participatory research, innovation and ideas generation, immersion, co-creation and co-design, ethnography, and customer journeys.
Experience applying traditional qualitative research methods eg depth interviews, focus groups, and survey design and delivery
Excellent qualitative analysis and reporting skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable Experience:
An upper second class (2.1) honours degree in a research related discipline such as Social Research, Quantitative and Qualitative Research, Consumer Psychology or a similar field
Member of the Market Research Society or similar professional body
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience of training and developing colleagues
Experience using statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata, SAS or equivalent
Experience working in the digital space eg carrying out user research, using web browsing/eye tracking software
