Contract Development Manager

(Logistics/Warehousing/Transport)

The role will be based in Hampshire with significant UK travel.

The Role:

  • Deliver new business opportunities in conjunction with the Contract Account Management Team
  • Management of Contract pipeline, responsible for identifying and capturing new business opportunities
  • Drive the development of new services and cross selling products with the key Customer stakeholders
  • Develop constructive long term relationships with key Customer stakeholders
  • Manage ongoing contract development including Steering Boards, Business Reviews
  • Responsible for the management of all collateral and customer facing materials ensuring a very high standard is maintained
  • Feedback and benchmark of commercial offering
  • To provide support, collation and guidance for all Continuous Improvement projects and activities within the contract areas designated.
  • To manage the Continuous Improvement projects for all designated operations to provide broader business benefit and a centralised focus.
  • Assist with Continuous Improvement proposals, coordinate and monitor progress.
  • Create operating solutions and written tender responses for new business proposals
  • Utilise Value Stream Mapping and coordinate with Operations/Contracts Managers to establish process Improvements.
  • Liaise with the General Manager of each contract to identify and achieve pre-determined target savings for each site through VSM and other activities
  • Capture and co-ordinate all current Continuous Improvement projects within the designated contracts and establish a reporting method for these projects.

  • Ability to work with the Customer to understand and define requirements, develop long term strategic solutions and sell on a consultative basis
  • Entrepreneurial thinker with strong drive to succeed

  • Strong commercial acumen with sales and marketing understanding
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders

  • Positive can do approach with resilience
  • Sales and persuasion skills
  • Trained to Lean Sigma Green Belt Level would be advantageous
  • Operational, technical and man management experience as well as exposure to continuous improvement techniques would be advantageous
  • You must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, in order to optimise site performance
  • Competency in report writing, PC software and communications
