GIS Spatial Analyst

Brief Overview

My client, based in the Irish Republic is currently seeking a GIS Spatial Analyst for a long term 3 year contract.

Your main tasks will be the following:

  • Defining evidence based Assessment projects
  • Spatial Analysis and modelling
  • Data Interoperability and reporting
  • Communicating and providing documentation

Education, Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Ideally you will have a degree in GIS, Remote Sensing or a related subject.
  • You will need to have in depth knowledge of GIS and Spatial Analysis tools.
  • Knowledge in supplying statistical GIS methods to the analysis to arrive at the answers to specific scientific queries.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.

Experience - At least 5 years' experience in GIS is essential including skills in:

  • Good working knowledge of Spatial Analyst tools (eg ESRI Spatial Analyst, FME, Q-GIS etc.) and the practical experience of their application (ideally to environmental data)
  • building GeoDatabases and the integrating of spatial data inputs and outputs
  • Good working knowledge of linear networks
  • Educational background in environmental science and/or experience in applying GIS to environmental data analysis
  • The use of GIS as an environmental decision support tool
  • Experience in the application of statistical methods and/or GIS to data to model real world problems

Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:

  • working with python and/or FME
  • creation of SQL scripts, SQL Views and/or creating and scheduling jobs in SQL Server Agent for use in spatial analysis
  • familiar with European legislation relating to GIS (eg INSPIRE Directive, Water Framework Directive, Noise etc.)
  • remote sensing
