Communications Manager

A Communications Manager is required to work on an eleven month contract, with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Preston.

This is an 11 month contract with a leading UK defence business.

Overview of the Communications Manager contract role

The Communications Manager will report to the Head of Communications and be responsible for ensuring a proactive, consistent and co-ordinated approach is adopted for all external communication. The role is based in Preston, Lancashire, and requires some UK-wide travel.

As a key member of the Communications team the incumbent will also support the delivery of a proactive programme of internal communication and employee engagement activities for all areas of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead proactive and reactive media relations in support of the Company strategy and to ensure that the client achieves appropriate influence/exposure
  • Support the development and delivery of a communications plan for a number of key projects including Bishopton development.
  • Develop and deliver an engagement plan for community investment within the project.
  • Support the development and delivery of all company messaging using appropriate engagement techniques
  • Working with members of the management team act as point of contact when developing and delivering their Line of Service communication strategy
  • Lead the clients presence on digital media
  • Develop stories to support the company themes of technology, economic contribution and skills

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds
