Work Block Manager

A Work Block Manager is required to work on a twelve month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Lancashire.

This is working for an aerospace client on a long term contract.

Overview of the Work Block Manager contract role

The team is responsible for all Engineering governance & operational deliveries. Dependent upon the specific position, successful applicants may be involved operationally with solution developments, requirements management, baseline definition, control of change, task management, verification, Supplier management and qualification/certification at all levels, all underpinned by the mandated governance.

Main Responsibilities of the Work Block Manager contract role

Co-ordination of engineering programmes across disciplines

Compilation of engineering estimates

Risk Management Managing the maintenance of given project/function resource demand and supply, costs and budget. L2 Programme generation and management.

Monitoring, managing and reporting for key milestones.

Responsible for the currency of the EVM metric values.

Maintain and manage project engineering QMS and Design Review requirements.

Business Support activities including the administration of Open Options, Success Factors & Cost Base reporting. OSHENS focal point.

Generation of working level programmes using Microsoft project

To support the Section Leader in planning, co-ordinating and effective delivery of specific products

Estimate collation and provision Earned Value Reporting and scheduling Planning across multidiscipline teams

To capture and manage customer requirements, translating into lower level supplier specifications/ICDs

To define qualification requirements and analysis of supplier supporting evidence

To undertake engineering Supplier Management activities

To undertake review, qualification and approval activities relative to deliverable and delivered items

To define Trials requirements

To generate clearance documentation to support development and production light activities

Key skills required for the Work Block Manager

Appropriate engineering qualification and experience

Knowledge of typical product design life cycle

Knowledgeable with regard to LCM and its application

Experienced in risk management, this will include hazard identification, analysis, risk assessment and risk mitigation.

The role is based in Lancashire - commutable from Preston, Blackpool, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool, Lancaster and Leeds
