Release Manager

Currently one of my multinational clients is looking for a Release Manager who enjoys travelling and would like to joint their team in Gdynia, Poland for a few months and then go to work with their team in the beautiful city of Tallinn in Estonia.

The successful Release Manager will have the following skills and experience:

  • Prior experience of having worked as an Release Manager in other financial sector organizations
  • Hands-on experience on Release and Deployment process.
  • Good Knowledge of Change and Release management process.
  • Should be able to define Release strategy by understanding IT landscape of the customer.
  • Release dashboard for management review meetings which should provide clear picture of Weekly/Monthly releases, resources utilization etc.
  • Should be able to define process improvements that should optimize the number of releases, lowered risk and maintained quality, functionality and time to market.
  • Lead cross-functional team to support each Release project plan and post Release/Change review.
  • Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Participate in Incident Management calls to manage post release issues/outages.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development life cycle
  • Project Management experience

Secondary Skills:

  • Knowledge of JIRA, Service Now tools or other tools to track the tickets.
  • Ability to handle multiple releases at one time without letting any downtime happen.
  • Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.
  • Knowledge of build and deployment tools like Jenkins, Microsoft Visual Studio, Unix, Oracle etc.
  • Knowledge of Agile/DevOps process.
  • Has the aptitude, ability and motivation to provide coaching and mentoring to Release Management personnel and to IT functional managers interfacing with the process
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with co-workers who are not direct reports

Additional skill:

  • ITIL Foundation certification. Preferably ITIL Service Manager Certification
