Requirements Manager

A Requirements Manager with Acceptance experience is required to work on a twelve month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a long term Naval Programme on contract.

Overview of the Requirements Manager contract role

Part of Systems Engineering Team for the latest Subs program, providing support to Requirements and Acceptance Management Team. Activities to include:

- Support to the engineering teams in generation key design descriptions documents and qualification plans

- Support to the engineering and supply chain teams in managing the requirements for OTS parts

- Development of the testing activities during the build phase of the programme

- Requirements management activities, including maintenance of Verification and Validation, and demonstration of compliance

- Support to engineering in developing equipment specifications

Responsibilities

Review, and facilitate agreement to, a suite of 'Evidence Scoping Statements' intended to provide detailed definitions of Acceptance Evidence to be provided in response to Dreadnought Ship Specification Verification and Validation Criteria.

The role to be undertaken is reviewing and facilitating agreement to the Acceptance Evidence to be provided in response to the Dreadnought requirement Ship Specification. In particular working with the MoD customer and with engineering teams across the project to agree the specific events and documentary evidence which will provide the basis for acceptance against the submarine's contracted technical requirements at both system and whole boat levels.

The Individual

The ideal experience would be someone who is familiar with both Requirements and Acceptance Management on large projects and experience of Royal Navy (preferably submarines but could be Surface Ships) operations. Recognising that finding someone with both these areas of expertise might be difficult, then either someone with strong Systems Engineering/Requirements Management experience on large projects, preferably with DOORS experience, or someone from an RN background who has some experience of working in a System Engineering or Requirements Management environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Degree level qualifications or equivalent, including ex Navy personnel

Key skills required for the Requirements Manager role

- Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices

- Able to work across a broad engineering organisation supporting many differing specialisms and engineering functions

- Experience of working on large system projects

- Familiarisation with Submarine Design and Practices (preferable)

- Experience of working with DOORS requirements tool

- Good communication skills and team worker

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
