Description

Shared Services Project Manager - Hong Kong.

  • Has overall responsibility for planning, directing and coordinating activities pertaining to the Shared Services delivery.
  • Ensures the project objectives are accomplished, on time and in budget and in line with business objectives.
  • Is familiar and monitors all major project activities, ensuring quality, integrity and consistency in project delivery, as per the agreed Horizon8 Program methodology.
  • Understands how to leverage applications for competitive advantage for the company.
  • Manages the full time and part time shared services team.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to the Programme Director.
  • Direct reports include the Change Lead, Org. Design Lead, Shared Services SMEs, Change Analysts and part time team members.

Principal Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing the delivery of the project to meet its objectives within the approved scope on time and in budget - owns the overall operational delivery of the project.

  • Supports the implementation of organisation and business changes related to the project.
  • Manages progress against the plan(s) and budget, report status and ensure risks and issues are highlighted, escalated and resolved.
  • Overall responsibility for the project budget.
  • Identifies resource requirements from the business & ensures business resources are available when requested and possess the required capabilities.
  • Ensures alignment between business objectives and project in collaboration with the business leads.
  • Works with the PMO Lead in the identification and scheduling of project deliverables, milestones and required tasks.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of programme personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Facilitates business validation of targets and future organisational design changes
  • Ensures robust communication channels exist with key stakeholders, ensuring expectations are effectively managed.
  • Keep close contact with key business representatives to ensure technologies are providing valuable information sharing capabilities.
  • Work closely with the business community to understand and prioritize business goals and information needs.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle.
  • Lead the effort in creative approaches to problem solving and quality deliverables supporting business needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Needed:

Programme & Project Management

  • Proven track record of successful delivery of large scale complex Shared Service implementation projects
  • Experience of delivering large scale business change projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of structured programme/project management tools, disciplines and methodologies based on PPM and PRINCE2 principles.
  • Experience of delivering complex technical change including both outsourcing and in-house delivery using different delivery methods.
  • Ability to work to tight deadline when under pressure.
  • Strong financial, stakeholder and contract management skills.
  • Ability to manage projects from inception to successful implementation.
  • Ability to blend creative, problem-solving, and technical skills to develop new approaches to seize opportunities and sustain business success.

People and Change Management

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve results.
  • Good consulting and relationship management skills and an ability to work comfortably at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership and people management expertise, including experience of managing and motivating Matrix teams.
  • Ability to take people through structural, procedural and cultural change and gain commitment to new models of working.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good prioritization and delegation skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels.

Business Acumen

  • Ability to take a holistic view of the organisation and its Business and IT needs.
  • Ability to grasp issues of a business nature and assess the technical impact, and vice versa.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of business trust and confidence.

Other

  • Technical understanding of hardware and systems software, as well as experience implementing SAP ERP and working with vendors.
  • High level of self-organisation, motivation and management independence.
  • Ability to successfully manage the expectations of and communicate with senior stakeholders up to Management Board level.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
  • Excellent influencing skills.
  • Ability to translate a strategic approach to a set of project deliverables.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and manage complex and often unique issues creating relevant clarity in areas of ambiguity to force decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, engineering or a related discipline with an information technology focus.
  • Strong management and development skills.
  • Technical management experience.
  • Ten to fifteen years of SAP Shared Services project management experience would be an asset
  • Experience of working in business Accounting, Finance or Procurement
