JOB TITLE GIS Administrator/Technician

Our client who manufacture green products and green energy using waste, waste water and wasted heat as a resource mine. They provide tailored solutions for industry or municipalities to help them save and preserve resources.

About the Role within the business - Administering Water and Wastewater assets, driving processes, and supporting the GIS solution.

We are currently looking for Geographic Information Systems Administrator/Technician to join a leading Environmental company. The successful candidate will report into the Optimisation & Maintenance Manager and GIS Manager, working majorly in the Water and Wastewater Industry.

You will be part of a growing team with technical, innovative and strategically thinking individuals that all work effectively both as a team and individually. As part of this team you will be the custodian of the Water and Wastewater assets solution, providing support to a range of work areas including internal field workers and external surveyors and clients.

Functional work will involve recording underground clean and waste water assets on the company GIS and supporting other local business systems. Asset updates arrive in a variety of forms from site plans, surveys or redlines.

The successful candidate will understand the benefit of GIS, and use their passion for geography, cartography or GIS to shape the future of the department in this sector.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer the Water and Wastewater GIS;

  • Maintain high quality asset data using ArcGIS Desktop editing tools to update assets in response to red lines, drawings, reports, surveys, and inspections.

  • Update Ordnance Survey data using ESRI UK Productivity Suite and LocatorHub.

  • Support and train users ArcGIS Online WAB applications and manage user accounts.

  • Understand the management systems and be able recommend changes in order to continuously improve the systems for the benefit of the employees and analytics, through;

  • Projects and ad-hoc analysis, collaborating with GIS and operational colleagues.

  • Reporting with Power BI specialists.

  • System change with IT and GIS technicians.

  • Support other local business systems

  • About your Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications;

    To be successful in this role of GIS Administrator/Technician we are looking to identify the following criteria in your application:

    • Degree level education in GIS/Cartography/Geography (or relevant experience)

    • Experience digitising data with ArcGIS desktop

    • Ability to understand, interrogate and read maps

    • Attention to detail

    • Process oriented approach

    • Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues and suppliers

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills

    • Experience with ArcGIS Online, enterprise geo databases and SQL an advantage

    • Experience within water industry an advantage

    • Proactive and forward thinking
