Sr Financial Consultant

Description:

  • Senior Financial Consultant to support in the areas of budgeting, forecasting, reporting, strategic planning and accounting.
  • The role requires ability to work with diverse groups of clients across the organization.
  • The Sr. Financial Consultant must be able to develop, interpret, and implement financial concepts for financial planning and control, and able to perform technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning and reporting.
  • Provides project, service line or product line management, management consulting, and analytical decision support services or technical expertise for a broad array of financial and operational issues.
  • Responsible for more complex multifaceted projects and analyses across disciplines and functional areas.
  • Regularly contributes to the development of new financial analysis reports, concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Assess financial processes and financial requirements in order to establish consistent and standardized financial policies, procedures, reports and tools.
  • Serve as a Strategic thought partner to assist in identifying and quantifying opportunities within their business.
  • Perform detailed analytics to identify key trends as well as areas of opportunities and risk.

Top Daily Responsibilities:

  • Track forecast to actual spend for projects and cost center budgets
  • Work with project managers to create and manage project tracker to identify risks/opportunities against approved capital spend.
  • Research forecast/budget variances to actual spend which entails reaching out to team members/peer groups to investigate issues and drive towards resolution.
  • Develop variance explanations on month end results/forecast and present to Executive Director

Requirements:

  • 10 years of direct FP&A experience required
  • BA in Finance or Accounting required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of internal clients - including non-financial audiences.
  • Technical knowledge of Accounting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills - ability to clearly articulate and summarize information to effectively communicate to diverse audiences including senior leaders across the organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of several or all of the following: general finance theories and methodologies, discounted cash flow analysis, cost/benefit analysis, feasibility studies, large scale business planning and financial modelling.
  • Experience managing Opex (P&L) and Capital Projects/Spend
  • Experience doing month-end close for cost centers with limited supervision
  • Able to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision or direction.
  • Process oriented.
  • Self initiator with ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Lead projects of moderate to complex scope.
  • Able to work under tight deadline pressures.
  • Strong Excel skills - Ability to understand how to create and understand data intense spreadsheets with limited supervision (ex. Vlookups, SUMIFs, IF THEN, create/manipulate pivots)
  • Working knowledge of Databases inclusive of Access.
  • Preferred experience with OLAP, eg Cognos TM1, PeopleSoft.
  • IT Finance experience
  • Business Case development experience
  • Basic operations knowledge of Network Business Case development experience
  • Curious and able to learn and asks questions (not afraid to admit what he or she knows or doesn't know).
  • Management/Supervisory Experience required - Oversight of team.
