Our client is a major insurance company.This is a great opportunity for an experienced IT Quality Assurance Senior tester skilled in both manual and automated testing. In this role, there will be frequent collaboration with developers and business customers, supporting applications through project and problem resolution assignments. Responsibilities include performing various software testing activities, including creating the test strategy, creating and executing test cases, providing estimates, as well as identifying issues and logging them to the applicable system. A variety of testing approaches and techniques will be used, typically providing functional, black-box and user acceptance testing expertise. A combination of experience and creativity are necessary to ensure that information systems products and services are functioning as expected and meeting end-user requirements, as well as working to identify risks related to unintended consequences. Analytical and problem-solving skills are critical to recognize and reduce redundancies in testing efforts, minimize complexity, and create efficiency without compromising effectiveness.
In this role, the testing is primarily manual, but there may be occasions to work with our System Test Engineers to investigate automation opportunities.
Required:
Hands-on experience using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
Experience planning, designing and executing test approaches and test cases for multiple application architectures using exploratory and scripted means to address test coverage expectations.
Proven understanding of all phases of testing
Proven experience with a range of testing techniques including: Component (Black Box), White Box, Pairwise, Combinatorial, Risk Based, Exploratory Charters
Experience in both UI & web applications
Experience with and strong understanding of web services & API testing and the technologies that support them
Using knowledge of relational database technologies, including independent use of SQL, for data discovery, acquisition and manipulation. Data validation to run queries.
Experience working with XML
Experience working in an iterative or agile project environment
Bachelor's Degree in a Business or Information Technology, or related discipline (eg, Computer Science, MIS, Business Management) and a minimum of four years of work experience analysing, testing and implementing business system changes or user acceptance testing. Experience must include planning, analysing and executing testing of multiple applications with significant size, scope and complexity (eg, Sales, Servicing, Billing Applications).
In lieu of a degree, a minimum of six years of related work experience analysing, testing and implementing business system changes or user acceptance testing, may be accepted. Experience must include planning, analysing and executing testing of multiple applications with significant size, scope and complexity (eg Sales, Servicing, Billing Applications).
