Quality Engineer required to join a globally established defence and electronics company that provides solutions to products and support services for land, air and maritime based applications both in the UK and internationally. Some of the projects that the Quality Engineer may be involved with include whole platform/facility solutions, sonar products, naval combat management systems, gun fire control systems, electro-optic systems, cameras, data distribution systems and weapon interfacing electronics.

The Quality Engineer will be employed on a 5 month contract and on offer is a competitive hourly rate which can discussed on the phone.

The purpose of the Quality Engineer is to support the Quality Assurance function at the site and provide cross-site support. Day to day tasks include internal auditing to ensure adherence to procedures, inspection of incoming goods and following of internal procedures to allow for issuance of products under Certificate of Conformity. Additional tasks may include, assistance of fault investigations and assisting in continuous improvement events.

Listed responsibilities of the Quality Engineer include:

  • Providing guidance to assigned Project Teams on the policies, processes and procedures as required supporting the QMS.
  • Conduct audits as directed by the QA Manager
  • Conduct inspection of incoming material and parts as directed to ensure conformance to dwgs and specifications.
  • Assist gathering of information to enable reporting of the site's QA Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Providing cross-site support, as directed, to ensure the company level requirements for QA are achieved.
  • Assist in promotion of a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support to internal, supplier and third party audits.
  • Interpretation and monitoring of customer contractual quality requirements and composition of QA Management Plans.
  • Review of deliverable documentation from a quality perspective.
  • Representing Loudwater site QA at customer meetings.
  • Proactively addressing customer quality issues and concerns.
  • Conducting supplier assessments.
  • The Quality Engineer will need to be able to obtain security clearance (SC).
