Finance Analyst - Revenue

My client is a large Energy and Utilities client, based in the West Midlands. We are currently recruiting for a Finance Analyst to look at revenue for a large business area.

The purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive financial advice and support to one or more project boards, documenting and understanding the end to end process for Revenue. As appropriate also responsible for financial control with a particular emphasis on timely, accurate and complete reporting and appropriate business planning, budgeting and forecasting. Includes monthly financial reporting and inputs to the month-end accounting process.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support the Income and incentive Finance Business Partners to deliver an end to end view of the income process, ensuring the process is accurately documented and appropriate recommendations are make as necessary.
  • Assist the month end process, ensuring the data used is consistent and accurate, the appropriateness of all inputs and outputs, and the completeness, consistency and accuracy of all data. Ensure accounting entries are appropriately classified in accordance with internal policy, accounting standards, nature of expenditure or form of control.
  • Compile and produce financial performance reports, including Flash reports, the 'blue book' monthly reports, and any adhoc. Ensure reporting is relevant, timely and accurate. Provide insightful commentary to adequately explain any data variances.
  • Provide financial analysis and evaluation, including building robust budgets and forecasts. Deal with complex and non-standard ad-hoc requests in order to support the achievement of the business unit's objectives.
  • Support Finance/Process Managers in establishing, maintaining and monitoring the financial control framework, ensuring compliance with all controls including those required for SOx.
  • Support relevant business stakeholders in understanding and quantifying the financial risks and opportunities for their respective areas.
  • As appropriate, support the delivery of change across Finance and the business, embracing new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.
  • Build own knowledge of regulatory framework and its impact on the industry and the business in order to support key decisions and advise and guide relevant stakeholders in own business area.

Qualifications and previous experience

  • Experienced finance professional - having worked in a business facing role in a large organisation
  • Strong excel skills
  • Qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Knowledge of SAP and advantage
