Purpose of role

To direct and manage all procurement activities associated with Type 45 sub-contracts. This includes supporting contractual closedown of all sub-contract activities and managing the implementation of the procurement and sub-contract activity associated with the Class Managed Equipment (CME) requirement, including where necessary setting up and managing new sub-contract activity.

Manage all sub-contract activity and deliverables

  • Mange a small procurement team
  • Ensure arrangements are in place to procure, receipt and issue all material and services associated T45 Class Managed Equipment (CME)
  • Engage and support stakeholders and the Equipment Management Lead on activities to generate, negotiate, place and manage contracts with suppliers. Activities include agreement of scope, definition, contracting frameworks, long and short term prices and delivery schedules.
  • Manage the IBC 'tail' post contract closedown.
  • Apply team and personnel behaviours that ensure compliance with BAE Systems corporate governance and ethical policy, deliver business performance and continuous improvement.
  • Experience and Key Technical Skills

    Will have led a procurement team/department and been responsible for sub-contract management, will be MCIPS or equivalent qualified and ideally will have worked in a defence contracting environment.

    Attention to detail in the identification and assessment of evolving workload and proposal/tender responses. Development of effective strategies for negotiating with suppliers. Positive lateral thinking to develop innovative organisational and supplier solutions.
