IT Project Manager (Application) - Stockholm, Sweden

Responsibilities:

  • The consultant shall be requested to perform various tasks related to one or several projects, products, applications and services managed by the ICT unit. The tasks might include
  • Manage the specification, development, implementation and maintenance of information systems to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality.
  • Give proposals for project/maintenance strategies, planning, definition of tasks and deliverables, review of project deliverables, quality control, risk analysis and management, status reports, problem reporting and management systems, follow up and organisation.
  • Guide the team in charge of project activities and review their deliverables.
  • Participate in functional working groups and progress meetings.
  • Estimate timescales and resource requirements for the successful completion of work, to meet agreed terms of reference.
  • Prepare and maintain execution and quality plans and track progress against the plan, provide regular and accurate reports.
  • Anticipate and manage risks, by recording, mitigating and escalating risks and issues to upper management, as needed.
  • Monitor timescales and resources used, and take action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensure that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.
  • Manage the change control procedure gaining agreement for revisions to the project from relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide effective leadership for the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and constantly developing their skills and experience.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement project related tasks.
  • Ensure proper communication between project stakeholders.
  • Follow up with tasks relevant to existing products that need monitoring and coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and updated project/activity management documentation and project records.
  • Produce and communicate reporting information on project level and support the connection between management and governance levels (eg between project level and portfolio level).
  • Coordinate the delivery of, and contribute to Feasibility studies and related studies.
  • Clarify project resource estimates as needed for the annual planning procedure.
  • Perform or support business analysis tasks.
  • Prepare technical documentation for procurement.
  • Monitoring contract execution in support staff responsible for contract management.
  • Supporting other project managers in all of the above.
  • Report accurately and timely the progress of individual tasks, anticipating and alerting for relevant risks and issues.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Project management of IT software development and maintenance projects (minimum 4 years), software product life cycle management.
  • Experience in applying industry standard Project Management methodologies, especially in integrating management of long and mid-term objectives (eg annual or quarterly planning) with iterative software development (eg Agile approaches).
  • Experience in performing Business Analysis work.
  • Experience in epidemiology/public health areas.
  • Communication skills in spoken and written English.
