Financial Accountant
A Financial Accountant is required to work on a four month contract, with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Preston.
This is an initial 4 month contract with a leading UK defence business.
Overview of the Financial Accountant contract role
The Financial Accounts Overseas team provides financial accounting to support to a selection of non BAE Systems (Operations) Ltd companies that form part of the reporting structure, this includes both UK and Overseas registered entities and branch office. This support involves all areas of the balance sheet, monthly management accounting and internal and external reporting requirements. The team provides the service across SAP, BaaN and Sage accounting systems, encompassing control account reconciliation, trial balance production, input into TM1, the HFM reporting tool and Group Tax Packs.
Due to a move in the team, a role is now available that will support a number of overseas branch offices and entities, coordinating the updating of bank mandates across all entities and branches supported by the team and liaising with third parties including, in-country fiscal representative and global shared services.
This role will provide a unique opportunity to be involved in the complete financial management of an entity through to the filing of statutory accounts.
Key skills required for the Financial Accountant
- As a Financial Accountant - Overseas your skills and experience must include:
- Knowledge of business process is essential as are strong excel skills. Strong interpersonal skills are required to deal with the MAI stakeholders, assignees in country and foreign suppliers.
- Financial accounting knowledge both internal for reporting and external for accounting standards would be advantageous but training will be provided.
- Experience of SAP and BaaN is advantageous.
- Attention to detail is critical, you must be able to work as part of small team but take responsibility for your assigned entities. You must be able to work well under pressure and achieve tight deadlines.
- It is essential that you are able to deal with stakeholders, entities and compliance regimes located across a number of countries
The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds
