Central Government - Finance - Accounting - Reconciliation - CPFA - AAT

My Central Government client is seeking a part Qualified CPFA or AAT finance professional to work as a Reconciliation Accountancy Technician. The Job holder will work within the Tax Accounting and Revenue Analysis Team, working to bring all outstanding reconciliations up to date, ensuring that any discrepancies are identified/resolved and ensuring that there are effective and ongoing controls in place.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with a small team to bring a number of bank and suspense reconciliations up to date;
  • Working on monthly ledger routines to provide assurance on accounting data;
  • Ensuring that discrepancies are identified, resolved and logged for audit purposes;
  • Putting in place effective ongoing controls for each reconciliation;
  • Bringing up to date and then maintaining guidance notes on how to undertake the reconciliations;
  • Resolving any problems identified with processes;

Essential skills/knowledge

  • Ability to communicate technical accounting concepts clearly and concisely;
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills;
  • Advanced MS Excel skills;
  • Excellent planning and organisational ability;
  • Ability to work without close supervision;
  • High level of accuracy and experience of meeting tight deadlines;
  • Innovative with experience of continuous accounting improvements;
  • Good at technical accounting problem resolution.
  • Part Qualified CPFA or AAT and/or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

Desirable experience

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced technical accounting environment with large financial systems
  • Working within the Public Sector using SAP systems
  • Working with the wider accounts production team to either assist in delivering key accounting information or to assist in resolving issues/concerns with accounting system processes;
  • Being an effective and pro-active team member.
