Senior Business Development Manager (Complex Weapons)

Role Purpose:
To develop and win business in the complex weapons and disruptive technologies domain. This will be achieved through development and ownership of customer accounts, mostly within the UK MOD and weapon primes although there is an occasional requirement to develop opportunities from overseas customers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Identification and development of new business propositions within a business stream
- Achievement of specific sales targets based on a particular domain with the complex weapons environment. Sales target typically up to £5M.
- Occasional briefing on the account or business stream at up to MLW leadership level
- Collaborative working with wider sales teams to support cross sales teams initiatives
- Management of internal and external stakeholders
- Development and delivery of the sales pipeline
- Ensuring accurate and timely forecasting.
Successful outcomes of this role:
- Demonstrable growth in both delivered orders and future pipeline in the complex weapon and disruptive technologies market segment allocated
- Demonstrable achievement of winning profitable and deliverable business for QinetiQ
- Ensuring accurate forecasting of future sales pipeline
- Developing, gaining agreement, and communicating your strategy both within the business development function and to the wider business.

Person Specification - Experience & Qualifications:
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Knowledge of complex weapons domain particularly the areas of weapon performance, qualification and safety
- Demonstrable knowledge of sales techniques in a business -to-business and business to government area
- Ability to form and lead cross functional teams
Essential Personal Qualities and Behavioural Requirements:
- Ability to operate in and/or lead cross functional teams
- Collaborative approach working across business boundaries
- A self-starter to take opportunities from conception through to closure
Desirable Criteria
- Ideally educated to degree level
- Knowledge of MOD purchasing processes
- Knowledge and experience in the weapons science & technology area
- Demonstrable understanding of commercial issues associated with new customers
- Demonstrating many or all of the following key competencies, commerciality, resilience, taking ownership of issues, innovative thinking, clear and credible communication, experience of working across functional boundaries and relationship building.
