Compliance Engineer - /EC Machinery Directive

My client is looking for a Product Safety and Compliance Engineer to compile and maintain the compliance documentation for /EC Machinery Directive. You will be joining a growing team of system and component specialists, within a client who provides high performance, engine calibration and development of complex engineering solutions for heavy duty, off-road vehicles. You will also liaise with specialist engineers across a global remit, experience consistent new initiatives for a multiple long term projects and also be provided with opportunity to develop personally and professionally.

The Compliance Engineer will be responsible for completing and producing product compliance documentation, risk assessments and safety/compliance audits specifically for diesel engines. You will be providing support to product development engineers in the identification of hazards and the definition of appropriate mitigation actions by acting as the 'Voice of the Regulator'. The Compliance Engineer will need experience in the creation of product compliance documentation for /EC Machinery Directive, as well as an understanding of European product requirements such as /EU EMC Directive, REACH, /EU ROHS, and Functional Safety Standards. You will preferably have design knowledge of diesel engines, earthmoving machinery, construction equipment or generating sets and have the ability to lead initiatives to introduce compliance to new regulations, provide training and drive increased cultural awareness of Product Safety and Regulatory Issues.

Key Skills/Responsibilities:

  • Suitable product design and development experience or a degree in Engineering or Materials Science
  • Experience in creating Product Compliance Documentation for /EC Machinery Directive (Technical Files, Risk Assessments)
  • Good understanding of European product requirements, /EU EMC Directive, REACH, /EU ROHS, and Functional Safety Standards
  • Design knowledge of diesel engines, earthmoving machinery, construction equipment, or generating sets
  • Provide support to product development engineers in the identification of safety hazards and ensuring they are adequately mitigated and design requirements are identified.
  • Ensuring product regulatory compliance risks are identified and managed
  • Identification and interpretation of non-emissions related product standards, regulations and certification requirements of Diesel Engines.
  • Lead initiatives to introduce compliance to new regulations, provide training and drive increased cultural awareness of Product Safety and Regulatory Issues
  • Must have a proven record of building strategic working relationships, be self-directed and have the ability to resolve conflict through compromise and team work
  • Strong communication, commitment to product safety and quality and report writing
