Proteus Europe is searching for a Data Scientist for a long term mission for one of our Belgian clients.

Your New role:-

This position is to join the Fraud Detection team that is creating tools and models for our clients business units. The team is focussing on identifying web traffic subsets that contain anomalies and are part of malicious actions.

In the role of data scientist within the fraud detection domain, the candidate will propose hypotheses, and design experiments to obtain suitable data to validate these. They will explore and visualize the data, and communicate the knowledge to the team/business. They create models that use existing and future data to create business value.

Data exploration and visualization:

- Creates and trains models to capture the knowledge learned and to transform it into product features. These models have good accuracy/recall/prediction values outside of the training set.

- Has 2+ years of experience of using supervised and unsupervised machine learning models on real world problems.
- The created models are implementable in the target product, and fit for purpose. The candidate implements and integrates the model into the target product, or works closely with the team that does.

Reproducible research and result communication:

- Has excellent communication skills. Communicates the extracted knowledge to the team and the business in reports and presentations.
- Visualizes the data in a variety of tools and creates a meaningful narrative and conclusion. Results are reproducible, meaningful and interpretable.

Your Skills and experience:-

Essential Skills:-
- Masters or Doctorate degree in a quantitative field (eg, mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering, etc.) required.
- Ability to manage and analyse large datasets using standard data science toolsets in R or Python
- Good understanding and extensive experience of exploratory, supervised and unsupervised machine learning models
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, knowledge of SQL and Apache Spark

Desirable Skills:-
- Experience with H2O.ai, KNIME, SparkML is a plus
