Underwriting support/Insurance/Broker/Marine/Property/£800

Our client a leading insurance broker has a requirement for an underwriting support contractor. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading global financial services organisation. This organisation has made a substantial investment in Underwriting and Capital Management (UCM) which business is building and supporting market leading underwriting platforms differentiated by the application of technology, data, advanced analytics and modelling. There is legal, reporting, physical location, IT and brand independence from this business.

Key responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for providing a market perspective in the evaluation of potential UCM platforms.
  • Where UCM platforms are assessed as good prospects, to support the on-boarding process, the design and production of the placement presentation, placement and on-going matters related to the UCM platforms.
  • To assist in maximising the potential Facilities that convert into UCM platforms.
  • To support the Data Scientists in the drive to build high quality Insurer underwriting data and through this ensure UCM has leading market underwriting and exposure analytics and the consequent capital modelling capability.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as evolve related to UCM.

The ideal candidate will need:

  • A good understanding of the evolving insurance market distribution dynamics and the consequences for participants in the value chain.
  • A sound insurance practitioner knowledge across a range of marine and non-marine classes of business and in particular, the short-tail classes.
  • Extensive practitioner experience and skill sets in either treaty reinsurance or MGA business, working with clients/MGA's in compiling presentations to enable placement
  • An ability to appreciate the market opportunity related to prospective UCM platform opportunities.
  • Organised and the ability to work quickly and efficiently when under pressure from tight deadlines.
