Description

Our client is a central government organisation currently seeking a part qualified or qualified by experience accountant with Oracle experience. The key remit of the role is the researching and analysing historical and forecast financial and commercial data and other relevant information. Gathering, interpreting and reporting of data. Providing reports and recommendations based on research, analysis and financial expertise. Assisting in the regular work of the Finance Department, such as the preparation of the monthly results, Business Plan as and when required.

Key Duties include:

  • Reconciling the asset clearing account for the programme, work collaboratively with Project Teams and the Asset Team with the completion of RAM (Real Asset Management) forms to generate and accurately record assets in the register
  • Production of timely of project's and programme financial reports, ensuring it accurately reflects the project's position to support project managers to provide accurate financial forecasts
  • Manipulation of data using Oracle/Adelphi interpreting financial information the system to inform financial reporting
  • Analysis of expenditure to support reliable forecasting, data integrity and consistent reporting
  • Support the provision of a unified and efficient reporting process that is trusted across the programme and enables a timely response to be provided to all routine queries and commissions and to business units in the prescribed timescale
  • Monitoring and maintaining all required financial records for compliance and audit
  • Preparation of accurate monthly journals for internal projects

Skills required:

ESSENTIAL

  • Strong financial management skills with strong IT skills in relation to financial modelling and forecasting tools. (eg MS Excel)
  • Understanding/interpreting finance reports from Oracle/Adelphi and the development of reports to support users of the information
  • Experience of accounting systems
  • Ability to analyse data and distil complexity into simple communications for senior stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Resilience, problem-solving attitude and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously essential
  • Good stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and in co-operation within a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Excellent communication, networking and negotiating skills

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of working with an accounts system in a shared service environment
  • Experience of developing complex business-wide cost models and presenting strategic options
  • Aware of government and departmental approvals processes and priorities
