Description
Job purpose:
* Translate software requirements into workable programming code in accordance with programming standards
* Maintain software solutions repairing defects and adding enhancements
* Document software development
* Application developer is to develop the applications required to provide a service to the client. This includes business as user support, usual fixes, enhancements and upgrades. You will be responsible for making available applications and systems which provide the required functionality for IT services
Main tasks & responsibilities:
* Responsible for the development and maintenance of custom applications as well as the customisation of products from software vendors
* Provision of consultation and recommendation on projects and business requirements, working in association with Service Architecture and project management teams
* Provision of 3rd level support as and when required
* Unit test software written by self/other developers
* Ensure that software written and tested complies with software guidelines
* Analyse existing software and determine how best to implement defect fixes and enhancements
* Guarantee all work is compliant with internal and external audit requirements and complies with financial legislative requirements (eg statutory, reporting, tax, etc.)
* Manage the maintenance and development of existing systems to support the ongoing needs of the business; deliver services based on defined KPIs and SLAs for both in house and outsourced services
* Develop/configure software systems and create/update necessary system documentation as directed by the project manager/development team leader
* Accurately report activities and status to the project manager/development team leader
* Ensure applications are sufficiently unit tested prior to handover
