Description

Service Analyst

London

The Target Operating Model (TOM) seeks to build on current market practices whilst factoring in the most effective and appropriate use of technology possible.

It is one of the four work streams in London market modernisation project, and is designed to improve the ease of doing business in the London Market, locally and globally. It was created to give context and clarity on how the 15 initiatives that are working towards improving the processes of the London market fit together.

TOM is being developed by the London Market Group, which itself is made up of the International Underwriting Association (IUA), the London and International Insurance Brokers Association (LIIBA), the Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) and the Corporation of Lloyd's.

There are two principals at the heart of TOM:

  • One touch data capture, in a common, global digital format, whereby data is entered only once, on behalf of all carriers and brokers, reducing risk of error and costly re-entry in multiple formats
  • Centralised administration and non-competitive services, allowing insurers and brokers to concentrate on their key business objectives

Analysis suggests the operational and financial benefits of TOM will be significant and while adopting a new model will have its associated challenges, it is widely accepted this is the right moment for Lloyd's, and the wider London market, to be innovative, bold and forward-looking.

Modernising the way the London insurance market does business requires greater foresight and for Lloyd's to be at the forefront of idea creation - supporting and fostering the application of new technologies - will shape the insurance industry in the years ahead.
