Data Scientist - My client, a large telecoms business in Belgium, are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join their ranks achieve better customer experience and cost savings.
This is a fantastic long term contract to work for one of the biggest names in the telco industry, have access to huge volumes of raw data, and to work in a highly dynamic and complex data driven environment.
* Translate business requests into data requirements, extract the required structured and unstructured data from the data lake, data warehouse and other data sources (eg operational systems) and prepare large-scale datasets for modelling, using Python/Spark/R/SQL.
* Identify high-value use cases through data exploration and visualization.
* Develop predictive/prescriptive models using machine learning/statistical methods and build prototypes demonstrating the value of these models.
* Deploy prototypes to production, with support of IT, to obtain reliable, scalable systems.
* Present your results and discuss them with multifunctional project teams.
* Work in close collaboration with business experts (for requirement gathering, data understanding, feature engineering, result validation, etc.) and IT (for deployment to production).
You will need the following professional skill set to be considered
* PhD or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.)
* Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience
* Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and statistical analysis
* Strong hands-on experience with data science technologies, incl.:
o Data science: Python (eg scikit-learn, TensorFlow)/R
o Big data: Spark, Hadoop
o Relational databases: SQL
o Experience with Real Time streaming is a plus
* Experience with complete data science life cycle, incl.:
o Business requirements gathering
o Data understanding, preparation, visualization
o Data exploration, identification of high-value use cases
o Modelling (incl. feature engineering, model fitting, etc.)
o Deployment to production, reporting, maintenance
* Team player with strong communication and presentation skills
* Able to manage data analytics projects in an autonomous way
* Experience in telecommunications sector and/or operational efficiency domain is a plus
French or Dutch are highly desired as a second language
