SopraSteria Recruitment are working in partnership with a Public sector organization to hire a Finance Director based in Cardiff. Role specs below. Many thanks.

Pay-rate: £630 per day

Duration of contract: 4 months (with possible extension)

IR35 status: Inside IR35

Key tasks and deliverables

As Finance Director, you will lead teams covering accounting, procurement, finance systems, customer accounts, payroll, penalties, efficiency and estates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member of the board and executive team, which oversee strategy and operational performance.
  • Leadership of a directorate with 70 staff.
  • Financial strategy, planning and budget management for an annual turnover of £70m.
  • Provision of finance systems and payroll services, including the sharing of the finance system with another Government agency.
  • Statutory fees and other income, ensuring these are in line with Government rules and Companies House strategic goals.
  • Commercial activities, including £30m of annual purchasing and a drive to improve commercial capability.
  • An estate that includes a large freehold building in Cardiff with multiple tenants, and leased offices in London, Edinburgh and Belfast.
  • An efficiency target, currently 3.5% a year.

Additional information specific to this role

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive and be a key member of the Executive Team. They will provide first class financial and commercial leadership to the 70 people in teams covering accounting, procurement, finance systems, customer accounts, payroll, penalties, efficiency and estates. They will directly manage the Head of Finance and Head of Commercial Activity.

The successful candidate will be a senior manager, within either the private or public sector, experienced in financial strategy, planning and budget management. You will be an excellent leader and strategic thinker, able to clearly articulate vision and strategy.
