Financial Accountant - Divestment - Financial Services

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the EMEA Accounting and Control team within a complex, fast paced and exciting Region/Team within a leading Financial Services client. The team consists of 27 people and is spread across eight countries, with the team members working closely with local FDs, BPs and FP&A teams, local and central Controllers and with the Shared Services Centre.

This role will have a dual purpose:

Leading and managing tax audits.

This role will be responsible for delivering all required information to external financial services providers, by liaising with Group Tax, local controllers and the Shared Service Centre

Chief Accountant.

This role will have management responsibility for the accounting, finance & control processes for a number of divested entities, under the terms of a Transition Service Agreement, providing expert advice on accounting and governance matters.

Key Responsibilities/Outputs

  • Ensure a strong and effective internal control and governance framework is in place which financial data is complete, accurate and all transactions are consistent with the client's accounting policies and IFRS/local reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements in the local market and ensure compliance with all Group Accounting standards, with focus on revenue recognition and accrued revenue balances
  • Ensure compliance with all local tax legislation or related legislation, specific to the in-country business, including responsibility for all statutory processes
  • Leadership and management of external audits, including tax audits and inspections
  • Ensure a standardised approach to all revenue streams that is in line with the agreed EMEA best practice
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency across all aspects of the financial processes

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Ability to influence stakeholders
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently, with the skill to adapt and drive change where necessary
  • Problem solving skills
  • Experience working with IFRS would be highly advantageous
  • Experience in a global, Matrix organisation
  • Knowledge of systems such as Oracle, Hyperion and OBIEE
  • Experience working in a multinational company
