In house Legal Counsel/Solicitor - Commercial

Contract (Daily Rate) - Commensurate to PQE

4-6 month contract opportunity

South West

To support a leading insurance client of ours in the South West, we are looking for a qualified solicitor to join their friendly and inclusive Group Legal team. The role will include the provision of advice in relation to Group-wide commercial contracts. These will cover procurement & supplier contracts, insurance products, consumer focussed contractual agreements, technology contracts, distribution agreements, IT contracts and general commercial contracts supporting requirements across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts, including in relation to the review of a range of procurement contracts such as terms and conditions for suppliers of goods and services, distribution agreements and IT/Technology contracts. Liaising with external legal counsel where necessary.
  • Advising in relation to contract and regulatory law.
  • Advising in relation to matters arising out of commercial contracts.
  • Advising in relation to ad hoc technical and legal queries.
  • Maintaining and updating contract templates to reflect current best practice and regulatory compliance.

Key Skills & Experience required:

  • UK Qualified solicitor.
  • Strong background in commercial contracts, with regulatory and financial services experience a bonus.
  • Strong business sense and an ability to demonstrate a collaborative, innovative and risk based approach to problem solving.
  • Good knowledge of contract law.
  • Knowledge of financial services regulations affecting contractual relationships with key and material suppliers and outsourcers would be ideal, but not essential.
  • Strong drafting and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Ability to work autonomously where appropriate.
  • Flexible and pragmatic within the responsibilities of the role.
  • Must be able to deliver advice to all levels of the business, including executive and senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Gravitas to liaise with senior internal stakeholders.
