Sopra Steria Recruitment is working in partnership with a major public sector client in the UK. We are currently recruiting Financial Accountant to be based in London for an initial period of 3months + with possible extension.Job Title: Financial Accountant
IR35 Scope: In Scope
The Maximum Pay Rate/Not including any fees just payable to candidate: upto 400 Umbrella
Location: Inner London
Contract Length: ASAP start - 14th April 2018

Clearance Level Required: BPSS (DS) - Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland)
Responsibilities:
Build understanding of the two accounting systems used to prepare the accounts and maintain high levels of integrity of that data;
Build understanding of the data tool used to capture financial information from Partner Organisations;
Engage with key stakeholders to ensure these systems are fit for purpose;
Work with the client's shared service providers to complete monthly journals;
Undertake the monthly review and reconciliation of ledger balances;
Undertake the monthly Whole of Government Accounts checks;
Undertake the client's Counterparty reconciliation and management;
Collaborate with the wider finance community within client's to mitigate accounting risks, working to mitigate these risks so that the Departmental Accounts are free of material errors;
Engage with the external auditors, the National Audit Office (NAO), to ensure that the audit process runs smoothly;
Essential & Desirable Criteria:
Essential Skills and Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIPFA or CIMA);
Significant experience of International Financial Reporting Standards;
Strong technical accounting skills;
Experience of accounting systems;
Excellent Excel skills;
Excellent presentational skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Preparation or audit of Central Government/public sector set of accounts;
Strong internal control and compliance skills;
Knowledge or willingness to learn about operating with an Oracle based RM system in a shared service environment.
MUST HAVE:
significant experience of International Financial Reporting Standards
Strong technical accounting skills
