My client provide a big data consulting service around open source big data tools such as Cassandra, Spark, Elasticsearch, Kafka.

They help enterpirse level organisations achieve their potential through installations and building building cutting edge customer-facing applications with the above open source toolsets.

I have a fantastic role for the right person, a hands on big data engineer / and first man on the ground in London andf huge success overseas.

The plan is to open an office in London, around mid-February, and we are looking to hire a lead Big Data Engineer to get the ball rolling

They are looking for both Contract / permanent options at this juncture

Some things you need to know as the Lead Big Data Engineer

They have a pipeline of clients / work in UK (more generally) in Europe. It is my expectation that the consultant will be delivering services 50% of his time, and work with the local sales manager the remaining of the time. Over the last 12 months, we had some on site work, as well as offsite works from a few customers. This is why we now want to have local technical presences in Europe.

The main areas the clients seem to be based in is the Tech industry, Financial sector, System Integrators

Strong Technical background is a must have. This includes Linux environment, Cloud environment, with some relevant experience in either Cassandra, Kafka, Spark, Elasticsearch (in this order of preferences).

There is a Sales director (EMEA) in the process to relocate to the UK (early Feb) so there will not be a sales element to this role.

This is very much a Technical requirement first and foremost, we also want someone that is comfortable talking with customers / prospects, face to face or on phone calls. We envisage the successful consultant to grow with the London offering with a view to be leading a practice as the office matures

Development, or maybe even better, DevOps background.

Contractor can be an options.

The Role:

• Delivering consulting service around Cassandra, Spark, ElasticSearch, and Kafka. This typically includes activities such as installation, configuration, troubleshooting, data modeling, cluster sizing, Proof of Concept, Performance Tuning.
• Engaging with the community via conferences talk and meetups.

Requirements:

• ready to travel across Europe to deliver consulting services and talks
• well rounded person confortable in client facing environements, and ready to take a leadership role
• general knowledge of cloud environments
