Operations Manager - Steel/Heavy Fabrication
An Operations Manager with Steel or Heavy Fabrication experience is required to work on a twelve-month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Cumbria.
This is a 12-month contract with a leading UK defence company.
Overview of the Operations Manager - Steel/Heavy Fabrication contract role
- To lead, develop and direct multi-skilled teams to deliver Manufacturing Engineering Systems projects to the production facilities, especially the preparation and implementation of a manufacturing standard (ISA-95).
- Responsible for ensuring the Health and Safety of all your employees.
- Review, develop, implement and monitor appropriate processes associated with the role.
- Establish effective engagement and communication strategies in order to ensure team, customer and stakeholder participation.
- Ensure the team adopts a customer service focussed approach. Apply technical expertise and standards across all areas under your area of responsibility.
- Ensure delivery of key activities/scope of work which is aligned to the achievement of key business and functional objectives.
- Technically competent in Manufacturing Engineering disciplines.
- IT systems knowledge desirable such as SAP or Siemens toolsets.
- Degree or equivalent experience in relevant discipline.
- Experience in a management role within a manufacturing industry.
- Good understanding of manufacturing.
Key skills required for the Operations - Steel/Heavy Fabrication
- 10 years manufacturing experience.
- 3 years minimum at management level.
- Track record of delivering manufacturing projects to schedule and cost.
The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District.
