Job Title: Estimator
Rate: £
Location: Milton Keynes
Length: 12 Months
Main responsibilities
- Production of cost and price estimates based on technical drawings and specifications for security and refurbishment projects to agreed timescales
- Cost project risks for inclusion within proposals or to advise clients of appropriate risk pot to hold
- Cost and price change requests
- Assist in development of cost and pricing models and related information databases
- Undertake variance analysis of project financial outturn and other metrics against planned costs to inform future estimating
- Assist in development, implementation and maintenance of cost and change management policies, processes and tools
- Help to develop a greater understanding across sections within SGS of estimating and pricing related criteria
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience of cost management from start to completion of security/estate projects
- Ability to produce a detailed Bill of Quantities and Bills of Materials from drawings and specifications
- Ability to prepare estimates using a computerised estimating package (training will be provided)
- Ability to demonstrate a significant knowledge of security and estates projects installations (technical and protective security, secure fit out, construction works)
- Microsoft Excel to intermediate level and general business application skills
Desirable:
- NVQ/RICS/IOB qualification (or equivalent) in construction cost management
- Membership of recognised relevant institution (B&C or M&E)
- Understanding of procurement within UK public sector
- Demonstrable experience of both UK and Overseas projects
- Demonstrable experience of commercial risk management at project and programme level from bid through project planning, shipping and installation
